An American photographer with Italian roots, Elia Locardi has worked as a “location independent” travel photographer, instructor and speaker since 2012.
Locardi is known for dramatic landscapes, unique post-processing, stunning drone footage and his dynamic speaking & teaching style.
He and his wife Naomi live a “100% mobile lifestyle, perpetually traveling from country to country, continuously circling the globe,” according to his website. Since he began traveling full-time in 2009, Locardi has visited more than 55 countries and collaborates with major companies, brands, countries, and tourism agencies all over the world. He and Naomi also teach drone photography workshops internationally: http://store.elialocardi.com/aerial-dji-drone-photography-workshops/
As someone who made the transition to full time travel following a period of financial crisis brought on by the trappings of a typical American lifestyle, Locardi enjoys sharing his journey and the decisions that made it possible for him to see the world while pursuing his passions. During presentations on drone photography and post-processing at the FujiLove Live in New York City in February 2017, Locardi talked about getting the perfect travel shots and emphasized the most important elements, which also happen to be the simplest: patience and time.
Great shots – authentic shots – come from understanding a place, from light to culture to geography. And true understanding of a place, he says, can only come from spending time in it.
