Glaciologist and photographer Mariusz Potocki earned an undergraduate degree in geography and a master's in physical photography from the University of Warsaw in Poland. He is now at the University of Maine pursuing a doctorate degree, a move he made after meeting University of Maine Climate Change Institute director Paul Mayewski while working at the Polish Antarctic Station on King George Island in 2007. Potocki loves photography as an international language, as well as the opportunity to share "the world's beauty in my photos so people may understand that it's worth caring for and saving for future generations."
